Borders Girls UN16 6s Tournament

On Sunday the 20th we made our way down to the Borders to play in a 6s tournament
This was always going to be a difficult event as it was for Un16s with most of our team coming from the Primary school.

However they acquitted themselves very well and made it through to the Finals where they unfortunately lost to the West team.
Overall our standard was exceptional with fantastic contributions from all the players
Imogen Paul fielded and bowled a tight line taking two important wickets in the group stages.
Monique Ibharalu bowled and batted very well claiming two wickets in the final.

Sofia Farah batted well in the final and Noora bowled well during the group stages. Taylor Roebuck was great behind the stumps as a wicket keeper making many important shots

Over all the team performed at a high standard and with experience are going to be a very difficult team to beat in the future.

In August a Scottish UN13 team will be playing games and we hope to have some representation in this team

Afterwards the Girls received their runners up medals and certificates from Councillor Graham Garvie from the Borders.

Just a word of thanks to Gordon Paul and Jon Roebuck for helping during the day and transport to/from the venue
Also thanks to Kirsten for providing extra food and soft drinks which were needed by the players during the day
Results:

McLaren 77 runs beat Kinross 52 runs
McLaren 37 runs beat Borders B 36 runs with two overs to spare

Final

Mclaren 41 runs lost to West 42 runs with one over to spare

Everyone enjoyed the day and made even better by getting medals to take home

FV v Dundee

Firstly congratulations to Aidan Orr, Clinton Sejpal and Angus McIntosh who all made the team for this tournament.
We were pooled with the two strongest teams but the players performed well

In our first game we scored 94 in our 10 overs with Ross Jones playing very well. Both Angus and Aidan showed great promise but a bit of inexperience meant they were out when looking good at the crease.
Angus totalled 95 scoring the winning run off the final ball of the innings – again a lack of experience at playing indoor cricket was our down fall. Angus bowled well for his two overs and Aidan bowled well when he came on to bowl.

FV v Angus

This game was always going to be difficult as Angus have 4 players in the Scottish UN13 Team.
Angus batted first and totalled 111, although we bowled well we gave away too many runs with overthrows, dropped catches and generally not being alert to quick singles.
However both Angus and Clinton bowled well during the innings

When our turn came to bat we were again victims of our inexperience and we only managed 43 runs .This was not helped by our first three batsman running themselves out before they had got going.
These games have to be put into perspective with Angus having Scottish representatives and some of our lads playing their first district game

FV v Perth and Kinross

In our last game we fielded first and the opposition scored 80 runs which was a total we should have made.
The opening stand between Chris Halcrow and Ross Jones had us thinking of a win BUT a series of run outs again hampered our progress and we ended up 18 runs short of the winning total.
Again Clinton, Angus and Aidan all looked in good form with the bat before getting out.
Clinton and Angus also bowled very well
It was an enjoyable day and we know that we have to now work on fielding and placing the ball in the gaps when batting.
