THANKS

To Jim McIntosh and all the parents for organising a highly successful bottle stall fundraiser. We managed to raise £450 and Resource Scotland kindly donated £50 to the club.

BOTTLE STALL

This will take place in ANCASTER SQ. ON SAT APRIL 5TH.
We NEED to raise funds to pay for summer training and ask all parents to contact Jim McIntosh with all donations.
On the day we will need as much help as possible from players and parents, please let Jim know when you are available to make up a rota through the day. 01877 331479.
We really need your support.

Wednesday Sessions

This will be the LAST midweek cricket session of winter season. This gives us all a break to prepare for the start of summer season.
To help players keep fitness levels BOXERCISE classes have been arranged for 5 -6 every Wednesday with George providing a fitness course tailored to Rugby and Cricket. THIS IS AVAILABLE FOR P6 AND ABOVE ONLY.
The cost will be £3.50 paid to MLC.

Summer Season

This will start on 10th MAY at 9am till 11am. This earlier start allows us maximum time on astro turf as Hockey club have kindly agreed to start later.

Membership forms are available for Tony and Jim and need to be paid before summer season starts. Membership is still only £10 and is for full year jan-dec. To date only 15 members have paid.

As the standard of all players is getting higher more will be moving to hard ball practice and will need personal equipment, coaches will be happy to advise.

No requests have been received for whites, as previously noted we are not in a position to buy in whites without pre paid order. It takes normally 4 weeks form placing order, so if you require any before season orders need to be placed start of April. Shirts and trousers can be purchased separately at approx £12.50 each.

Thanks for all your support and thanks to all who have paid membership.

SPRING UPDATE

All going well with our first winter training sessions hope all the players are enjoying them despite the limited time.

Girls have indoor tournaments on 16th of March and 27th April. Girl’s academy will start again on 3rd March. As Kari is in South Africa with the Scottish Ladies team competing in the World Cup 2009 Qualifying Tournament, keep an eye out in the sports press on her progress against Zimbabwe, Ireland and Pakistan.
McLaren High School sessions are taking place on Mondays 3.30- 5 during term time, this is first step to adding cricket to the PE curriculum.

First Forth Valley Boys u-13 Development squad coaching at Grangemouth has started with eleven of the players representing MCC. The intensity of coaching has been cranked up with video analysis, physical training and to the boys’ surprise, HOMEWORK, which should all be completed for the next session on the 24th.

Congratulations to Duncan, Ben, Will, Angus, Clinton, Aidan, Rory, Ruaridh, Peter, William and James.

FUNDS

We have arranged to have a BOTTLE STALL in Ancaster Sq on the 5th April to build club funds. This is needed to cover the costs for hall and astro turf for two hours during four months of summer training at the leisure centre, starting on 10th May.
Could we ask that all parents collect as many bottles, preferably alcoholic, and contact Jim on 07968 128807 to arrange either collection or dropping of at his house.
As we are looking to have 70 players when summer season starts we need to have all the recourses available to ensure the best for the club members.

Membership is still only £10 for full year; this covers all MCC sessions and runs from January to December. Membership forms for those who have not paid are available from Tony or Jim. Again due to insurance only registered members can travel and play in any matches.

Due to funding we will be taking pre paid orders for MCC whites for next year. Any parent needing new shirts or trousers please give order to coaches with sizes.

As we are moving more players towards hard ball there is a need for personal equipment. Advice on what is required is available form any of the coaches.

An SVQ qualification course is available with CRICKET SCOTLAND/SPORTS CENTRAL for anyone aged 16+. This would give someone a foundation in Sports and Leisure working with professionals. For more details contact Tony.

Thanks for all your help and if you have questions please have a word with the coaches.
